MC 331 Portfolio
A collection of images from the fall semester in MC 331.
Project 1: Design Concepts
This first project focused on different elements of photography: pattern, line, form, color, texture and shape.
Form: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark II with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS III at 70mm, 1/500, f/4 and 5000 iso.
Pattern: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark ii with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS III at 200mm, 1/640, f/5.6, and 800 iso. For pattern, I noticed the seats and the repeating Powercat branding across all of them. I thought that it created a pleasing look, creating a sense of calm before the storm that day.
Shape: This image was shot on a Canon R3 with an EF 400mm f/2.8 IS II USM lens at 400mm, f/2.8, 1/2500 and 400 iso. I’ve always wanted to capture a simple shot like this, and noticed the shape of the bag is more rounded on the top than I had originally thought it was.
Texture: This image was shot on a Canon R3 with an RF 28-70 f/2 lens at 70mm, f/2, 1/4000 and 100 iso. I noticed one of our catchers does this routine before shaking the umpire’s hand. I wanted to capture that moment, saw how the texture of the infield dirt looked, and shot the frames.
Line: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark II with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS III at 130mm, 1/1000, f/5.6, and 640 iso. For line, I saw how the fans and the white road line created a pleasing and natural path for the eye to follow upward. The fans frame the football team well and help make them the main emphasis of the image.
Color: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark II with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS III at 70mm, 1/250, f/4 and 5000 iso. When I focused on the drones themselves, I noticed they became extremely hard to see. So to make them more apparent and emphasize the color, I back-focused my lens to make the bokeh pop, which also enhanced the color of the drones.
Project 2: Perspective
Focusing on different perspective styles of photography, including linear, conceptual and physical.
Conceptual: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark ii with an RF 15-35mm f/2.8 lens at 15mm, 1/2000, f/3.2, 800 ISO.
Physical: This image was shot on a Canon R3 with an RF 28-70mm f/2 lens at 70mm, 1/1000, f/2, and 125 ISO.
Linear: This image was shot on a Canon R6 Mark ii with an RF 15-35 f/2.8 lens at 15mm, 1/1000, f/5.6, 1000 ISO.
Project 3: Elements of visualization
This project focused on visualizing how to photograph one object in a variety of different ways. For this project, I focused on my father’s 1987 C4 Corvette that hasn’t run in over three years.

Project 5: Flat Lay & Product Photography
This project focused on creating visually appealing flat lay set-ups for product photography to encourage people to buy a specific product. My flat lay came from an assignment with K-State Sports to showcase a t-shirt for a stripe-out football game.
Project 6: Lifestyle Concepts
This project focused on creating images to appeal to a specific lifestyle; to encourage viewers they need to buy into a lifestyle. I chose to follow my fiancée around while she walked her dog, to showcase a healthy, pet-oriented type of lifestyle that people would want to live.
Project 7: Capturing Ideas & Emotion
This section focuses on capturing different types of portraits. I chose to capture an environmental portrait during a game, working with Bellarmine Men’s basketball.
Project 8: Working with Models
This project focused on posing, guiding and directing models. In January, I had the opportunity to work with K-State baseball for a photoshoot, learning to direct and lead a large number of athletes to create digital assets.
